We will step back in time to the days of gangsters and prohibition during a 2-hour tour with a step-on guide. See the hot spots and hideouts made famous by Al Capone, his allies and enemies. We'll be entertained by a 20's musical comedy revue wit da gangsters and flappers. You are welcome to dress in period attire or props to make the day more festive! At the end of the musical revue, there will be a reenactment of the St. Valentines Day massacre, which is only done on Valentines Day. You will have the opportunity to leave the theatre if you don't wish to watch the 5 minutes historical reenactment. Price includes transportation, 2-hour tour, lunch and the musical revue. Cost: $85 per person Thursday, April 3, 2008 The Jacob Henry Mansion Estate's Abbey Dinner Theatre, in Joliet, IL is our destination for a tour of J.H. Mansion (built in 1873)Estate Tour, lunch at the dinner theatre, entertainment will be provided by Patty Waszak coming to us directly from Pigeon Forge, TN. She is a dynamic singer, comedienne, songwriter and phenomenal musician. Before we depart, we will visit the main room of Old Central church that is home to a 2,000 pipe organ and floor to ceiling stained glass windows. Trip includes transportation, tour of Jacob Henry Mansion, afternoon lunch matinee and a visit to Chapel Hall. Cost: $79 per person Tuesday, May 13, 2008 Enjoy Lilac Time at the spectacular Lilacia Park located in Lombard, IL. This is an annual festival where thousands of visitors flock to take in the blooms. You will see the horticultural heritage that we now enjoy, that originated in Asia Minor. It was Busbecquis, the ambassador of the Imperial Hapsburgs to the Turkish Sultan that first cultivated them and brought them to Vienna. From Imperial Austria the syringia vulgaris (lilacs) spread to France and eventually to North America. We will enjoy the park on a self-guided tour to take in the sights and frangrance that the park has to offer. Then we depart to The Morton Arboretum, i Lisle, IL to board the Acorn Express open-air tram for a one four excursion, followed by a delicious buffet lunch served at the arboretum. We also plan to visit York Town Mall for a brief visit for a bit of shopping. Trip includes transportation, self-guided tour of Lilacia Park, 1-hour tram ride through The Morton Arboretum, buffet lunch and a brief visit to York Town Mall. The Little Traveler, a historic mansion filled with treasures from around the world and a history over 80 years in the making, located at Geneva, IL will be our shopping destination this year.
